Last updated: 30 September 2026. Effective date: 30 September 2026.
This Privacy Policy describes how the mobile application “Sea-man Tests” (application ID: com.seamanorg.tests), together with the related website https://sea-man.org (the “Service”), handles information. The Service is operated by an individual (sole developer/owner):
- Data controller / operator: Sea-Man.Org
- Contact email: support@sea-man.org
- Website: https://sea-man.org
By installing or using the Service you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
The Service does not require you to create an account and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or password. We collect and process the following categories of information:
1.1. Anonymous device identifier (“Device ID”)
To operate the Service, the app generates or reads a device identifier:
- on Android: the system Android ID (ANDROID_ID);
- if neither is available, a randomly generated UUID.
This identifier is not your name and is not linked to your identity. It is stored locally in the device’s secure storage and sent to our server when the app communicates with the Service.
1.2. Device access token
When the app first connects, our server issues a random access token that is stored locally in the device’s secure storage and used to authenticate requests from your device. This token is tied to the Device ID.
1.3. Usage and analytics data
With your consent where required, we collect limited usage statistics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Depending on the events, this may include: app opened; search terms you enter in the in-app search; the test or question you open; starting a training or exam session; opening the premium screen; activating a premium key; completing a premium purchase; and answering the Question of the Day. These events are associated with the anonymous Device ID, not with your name.
1.4. Diagnostics and crash data
If the app crashes or a request fails, we may collect technical diagnostic information: error messages and stack traces, app version, operating system, and the Device ID. This data is used only to detect and fix technical problems.
1.5. Premium activation keys
If you activate a premium access key, the key is transmitted to our server to validate it and to link your access to your Device ID. We do not receive or store your payment card details; payments for premium access are processed by the relevant store or payment provider under their own terms.
1.6. Communications you send us
If you contact us (for example via the “Report a problem” or “Contact support” feature, which opens your email app), we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to you.
1.7. Locally stored preferences
Settings such as your chosen language, theme, onboarding state, and premium status are stored locally on your device. Essential data (such as the Device ID and access token) is kept in the device’s secure storage. Clearing this data or uninstalling the app removes it from your device.
We do not collect precise location data, contacts, photos, calendar, health data, or any other categories of personal data not listed above.
2. WHAT WE DO NOT DO
- We do not require an account and do not collect your name, email, or phone number to use the app.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
- The app does not display third-party behavioral advertising.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use the information described above to:
- – provide and operate the Service, including delivering test content and search results to your device;
- register and authenticate your device, and manage premium access;
- understand usage and improve the Service;
- detect, diagnose, and fix errors, crashes, and performance issues;
- respond to your support requests and comply with legal obligations.
4. LEGAL BASES (for users in the EEA / UK)
Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on:
- performance of a contract / provision of the Service – to make the app work and to provide content and premium features you request;
- legitimate interests – to secure the Service and to fix technical problems;
- your consent — for analytics (where required); you may withdraw consent at any time as described in Section 8.
5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS
We use reputable third-party providers that process data on our behalf, only for the purposes described in this Policy:
- PostHog (analytics) – EU cloud, host: https://eu.i.posthog.com https://posthog.com/privacy
- Sentry (crash and error diagnostics) – European region: https://sentry.io/privacy/
- Hosting and infrastructure providers for the sea-man.org servers that deliver the app’s API and content.
These providers are bound by their own terms and data protection commitments. The store through which you installed the app (e.g. Google Play, Aptoide) may also collect information as described in its own privacy policy; that processing is not controlled by us.
6. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Some of our providers may process data outside your country, including in the European Union. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards under applicable law for such transfers.
7. DATA RETENTION
We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes described above:
- diagnostic and analytics data – for a limited period sufficient to analyse issues and usage trends;
- support correspondence – as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable follow-up period;
- device registration and premium linked data – while your device uses the Service and as needed to maintain your premium access. Locally stored data remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app.
8. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (for example, under the GDPR). Because the app is not tied to an account or your real identity, much of the data is linked only to an anonymous Device ID.
To exercise these rights, or to request deletion of the data associated with your Device ID, contact us at support@sea-man.org. You can also stop all analytics and diagnostic collection by uninstalling the app; uninstalling the app removes locally stored data from your device. Note that some data already sent to our providers may be retained for the periods described in Section 7 or
as required by law.
9. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
The Service is intended for adult professional users and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at support@sea-man.org and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
10. SECURITY
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we process, including storing sensitive app data in the device’s secure storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app or on our website. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
