Wärtsilä Signs 15-Year Lifecycle Deal with CLSICO for LNG Carriers

Wärtsilä has entered into a 15-year lifecycle agreement with China LNG Shipping (International) Co. Ltd. (CLSICO) to service three LNG carriers, focusing on enhancing operational reliability, offering flexible maintenance scheduling, and optimizing time between overhauls (TBO) for each vessel. Effective from August 2025 and recorded by Wärtsilä in the third quarter of 2025, the agreement addresses the growing demand for LNG and the need for timely deliveries, where reliability is paramount. CLSICO’s General Manager, Andrew Johnston, emphasized the company’s commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient LNG ship operations, with Wärtsilä’s lifecycle agreements playing a key role in optimizing maintenance and performance.

The agreement leverages Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight predictive maintenance solution, enabling CLSICO to use engine data for dynamic maintenance planning, cost optimization, 24/7 remote support, and improved asset availability. This digital tool also predicts potential issues, reducing unscheduled maintenance costs. Henrik Wilhelms, Director of Agreement Sales at Wärtsilä Marine, highlighted that such service agreements, digital tools, and real-time analytics maximize vessel uptime, optimize operational expenses, and support decarbonization goals.

The agreement covers the LNG carriers Al Tuwar, Al Mas’habiyyah, and Fat’h Al Khair, each approximately 300 meters long with a capacity of 174 000 cubic meters, powered by two 8-cylinder and two 6-cylinder Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines. This follows a successful 2023 lifecycle agreement with CLSICO for the Dapeng Princess, the world’s largest shallow-draft LNG carrier.
