Adjacent Channel Interference – Definition and Pronunciation

[əˈdʒeɪsənt ˈtʃænəl ˌɪntərˈfɪərəns]

What is Adjacent Channel Interference?

Extraneous power from a signal in an adjacent channel. ACI may be caused by inadequate filtering of unwanted modulation products in frequency modulation (FM) systems, improper tuning, or poor frequency control, in either the reference channel or the interfering channel, or both.

Adjacent Channel Interference Examples

These systems are planned to have the ability to automatically detect and respond to impairments of the transmission channel, such as, but not limited to Adjacent Satellite Interference (ASI), Adjacent Channel Interference (ACI), rain fade, and terminal RF performance variations due to a number of causes.
