Charterer – Definition and Pronunciation
What is Charterer?
Charterer is the entity to whom is given the use of the whole of the carrying capacity of a ship for the transportation of cargo to a stated port for a specified time.

Many charterers will require a ship inspection (or other means of determining ship acceptability, such as vetting) to be carried out prior to fixture and during this check the ship should be found suitable for employment.

Some charterers insist you also take out an additional hull damage waiver insurance and the cost of this premium is not returnable. They may require the dinghy and outboard to be insured separately.
