What is C3MR?
C3MR – process the LNG refrigeration process using propane and mixed refrigerants as the cooling media.
Examples of C3MR
There are two main commercially available processes for liquefaction, the Cascade process and the Air Products (APCI) C3MR process which employs a combination of propane (C3) and mixed component refrigeration (MR).

Conceptual studies were conducted in 2001, which confirmed the technical feasibility and eco-nomic viability of the project. KBR performed a FEED study for the sponsors in 2002 based upon the proven and popular Air Product’s C3MR gas liquefaction technology.

By using nitrogen to subcool LNG, the percentage of the total refrigeration load on the upstream C3MR section is reduced, allowing for greatly increased capacity in a single train without having to parallel major equipment.
