A brief note about L-band frequencies follows next. As we saw in “Trends, Technologies and Applications of Modern Satellites”, the IEEE Standard 521–1984 positions the L-band at 1–2 GHz. This frequency range includes the Global Positioning (Service/) System (GPS) and other GNSSs (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) such as the Russian Glonass, the European Galileo, and the Chinese Beidou.
