What is PORV?
A Pilot Operated Relief Valve (PORV) is a safety device used in pressure systems to automatically release excess pressure, preventing potential damage or failure. It operates using a pilot signal that controls its opening, ensuring efficient pressure regulation and safety in various industrial applications.
Examples of PORV
Cargo tank relief valves are fitted at the liquid domes of each tank and vent to their associated vent mast riser. These valves are pilot operated (PORV type) to provide the accuracy and sensitivity required for the relatively low pressures at which they must operate.
