What is PPE?
Personal protective equipment (PPE) refers to specialized clothing or gear designed to safeguard the wearer from hazardous materials or environments. It includes items such as gloves, masks, helmets, goggles, and protective clothing, essential in various settings like healthcare, construction, and laboratories to ensure safety and minimize risks.
Examples of PPE
The IGC Code lists the minimum requirements for general first-aid and safety equipment to be provided on liquefied gas carriers, as well as additional PPE requirements for individual products carried under the IGC Code.

In addition to normal PPE, such as safety helmet, safety spectacles, coveralls, safety gloves and safety boots or shoes, personnel entering a confined space should have: 10-minute escape set (e. g. ELSA Emergency Life Saving Appliance); Personal O2/trace gas monitor; Hand torch; UHF radio.
