Million Standard Cubic Feet (MMscf) – Definition and Pronunciation
What is MMscf?
MMscf, or Million Standard Cubic Feet, is a unit of measurement used to quantify the volume of gas, specifically natural gas. It represents one million cubic feet of gas at standard conditions of temperature and pressure.
Examples of MMscf
LNG storage and regasification units could have lengths of 100 m – 300 m with storage capacities on the order of 20 000 – 263 000 m3. The gas send-out volumes typically vary from 50 MMscfd to about 750 MMscfd and the associated tariffs usually decrease with increasing send-out volumes.

In the final weeks of 1965, Esso signed an agreement with Libya, Italy and Spain to deliver respectively 235 MMSCF and 110 MMSCF per day of natural gas. This project, due to start in 1968, required four ships of approximately 40 000 m3 capacity and 18 knot service speed.

An economic analysis of the barge capital cost and revenue would be needed to determine an optimum storage, but the suggestion here is that around 5,7E6scm (200 mmscf) might be sufficient.
