Freeboard – Definition and Pronunciation
What is Freeboard?
Freeboard is the height of the hull between the boat’s waterline and its deck. Also refers to the unimmersed portion of the hull.

Low freeboard may indicate a design that will ship a lot of spray and water with the wind forward of the beam on ocean passages.
