FLORICA Cargo Ship Grounds in Russia’s Don River, Crew Safe

The general cargo ship FLORICA reportedly ran aground in the Don River, located in Russia’s Oblast region. The incident occurred at approximately 1:50 PM Moscow time on October 2, when the vessel became stuck on a sandbar.

The ship was carrying a crew of 14 Azerbaijani citizens, all of whom are reported to be safe and uninjured following the incident. Local authorities dispatched two tugboats to assist in refloating the vessel.

They also confirmed that the grounding has not caused any traffic incidents in the area, and operations are continuing without significant delays.

The FLORICA is a 2 980 gross ton vessel registered in Vanuatu and was built in 1990. It measures 115 meters in length and 13 meters in width.
