Okskaya Shipyard Completes Construction of Dry Cargo Ship “Leonid Bagrov” of Project RSD71
The construction of the new dry cargo ship “Leonid Bagrov” of project RSD71, classified by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), has been completed. This was reported by the Register’s press service.
The vessel was built at the “Okskaya Shipyard.” The set of documents from the Register was issued for the ship on April 14, 2025, and presented by Sergey Konovalov, the director of the Nizhny Novgorod branch.

The dry cargo ship “Leonid Bagrov” is the latest in a series of mixed “river-sea” vessels, continuing the RSD59 project. The new generation of ships features a spacious cargo hold that is 6 meters longer than that of its predecessors. At the same time, they have smaller dimensions, allowing for an expanded geography of cargo delivery to ports that cannot accommodate RSD59 vessels due to size limitations.
The RSD71 project was developed by the Marine Engineering Bureau, and the design documentation was prepared by the company “R-Flot. Design.”
RSD71 is a new project of a dry cargo vessel of the “river-sea” type in the history of domestic shipbuilding and is being implemented for the first time in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The main advantage of the RSD71 vessel over other modern projects is its versatility, ensuring effective operation both at sea, with a deadweight of 7 170 tons, and in rivers, with a deadweight of 4 380 tons.
The vessel meets modern international environmental standards, including the Tier III standard, which limits nitrogen oxide emissions, and is equipped with the most advanced automation and navigation support systems.

>The purpose of the RSD71 project vessel is for marine and mixed (river-sea) transportation of general and bulk cargoes in a single cargo hold, including grain, packaged timber, round timber, scrap metal, metal in bundles and rolls, oversized, long-length, and heavy cargoes, coal, and hazardous materials of classes 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 according to the IMDG Code, as well as cargoes of category “B” from the MPNG Code.
The lead vessel of the RSD71 project, “Constructor Egorov,” was built at the “Okskaya Shipyard” at the end of February 2025, commissioned by “Volga Shipping Company.” The ship is named after the founder of the Marine Engineering Bureau, Doctor of Technical Sciences, ship designer, and ideologist of domestic shipbuilding, Gennady Vyacheslavovich Egorov, who passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2021.
