On September 9th, Turkish authorities reported a collision involving the general cargo vessel KNIDOS and the bulk carrier NADEEN in the Middle East Gulf. The KNIDOS, which was hit on its starboard stern quarter, began taking on water in its engine room. The 13 crew members aboard KNIDOS evacuated using a life raft and were later rescued by the NADEEN.
The cause of the collision remains unclear, but fortunately, no casualties were reported on either vessel.
The KNIDOS is a Panama-flagged cargo ship managed by Elkenz Shipping in Istanbul. Our data indicates it was loaded and had departed from DAMMAM Port in Saudi Arabia on September 8, with its destination being MINA SAQR Port in the UAE on September 9.
The NADEEN, a bulk carrier built in 2005 and registered under the flag of St Vincent & Grenadines, was in ballast when the collision occurred. It had left COCHIN Anchorage in India on August 31 and is currently docked at DUBAI Anchorage.
