Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced its new ship, Norwegian Luna, set to make its debut in spring 2026. This vessel will be the 21st in NCL’s fleet and marks the latest advancement in their Prima Plus Class.
Measuring 1 056 feet long and weighing 156 300 gross tons, Norwegian Luna will tie as the fifth-largest ship in NCL’s fleet, accommodating around 3 550 guests — an increase of 10 % in size and capacity compared to its Prima Class predecessors. The ship will offer various Caribbean itineraries from Miami, includig stops at Roatan Island, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and NCL’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay.
Norwegian Luna will be a sister ship to Norwegian Aqua, which is scheduled for launch in March 2025. Both vessels are being built by the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, with interiors designed by renowned architects such as AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC Design, and Studio Dado.
Ordered as part of “Project Leonardo” in 2017, Norwegian Luna and Norwegian Aqua follow the first two ships in the series, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, delivered in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has also recently ordered eight new ships from Fincantieri for its various brands, scheduled for delivery from 2026 to 2036.
David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, stated, “The debut of Norwegian Luna truly showcases our ongoing commitment to providing guests more of what they enjoy and value—a brand-new ship with the latest, innovative offerings sailing to the beautiful, tropical destinations of the Caribbean.”
Norwegian Luna will feature unique attractions like the Aqua Slidecoaster, a combination rollercoaster and waterslide, and the Glow Court, a digital sports complex that transforms into a nightclub. Luxury amenities will include new Three-Bedroom Duplex Haven Suites and various dining options, such as the Thai specialty restaurant Sukhothai and the Indulge Food Hall.
