Coaming – Definition and Pronunciation
What is Coaming?
Coaming is a raised lip or short solid rail (wall) constructed around hatches, companionway openings, and cockpits to stop the flow of water.

The drip trays are made of the same material as the tanks, that is A5083-0 aluminum, and are provided with flanged coamings and baffle plates to restrict the movement of any liquid, resulting from heel, trim and motions of the ship.
