Interference – Definition and Pronunciation

[ˌɪn.təˈfɪə.rəns]

What is Interference?

In general, extraneous energy, from natural or man-made sources, that impedes the reception of desired for example, a radio emission from another transmitter at approximately the same frequency, or having a harmonic frequency approximately the same as another emission of interest to a given recipient, and which impedes reception of the desired signal by the intended recipient.

Examples of Interference

During this period the satellite is kept in its east–west position so that interference to adjacent satellites is avoided, but its inclination is allowed to increase to, say, ±5° over a half-a-dozen years.

Embedded Antennas. Most M2M products employ multiband internal antennas (planar inverted F) that are galvanically connected to the radiating ground plane of the product. These antenna elements are tailored to match the radiating properties of the product itself, so the product as a whole radiates efficiently over the frequency bands specified. Each product has unique electromagnetic properties owing to size, shape, and interference.

Advantages of Ka-band for SNG services include: the lower chance of adjacent satellite interference, and the smaller risk of uplink mispointing to other spacecraft considering the plethora of existing Ku/C spacecraft now on station.
